Summary/Abstract: Changes in the external and the internal environment of the organization have contributed to the evolution of the role of the manager, and thus to the creation of their new image. The modern manager is a person who manages a group of people. They are knowledgeable, have excellent organizational skills, strive for more original methods to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of managing. What drives them is a humanitarian approach to workers (humanistic concept of management). A manager and management by objectives and competitiveness constitute “the picture" of active participation in the competition process. The aim of this study is to present the importance of the manager in the management by objectives in relation to the competitiveness of an enterprise.
