The Purification of Human Self

Summary/Abstract: In this study I am trying to explain the mistic dimension of Islam – sufism- and its psychological features with purification of self. Although the concept of self doesn’t exactly match with the sufi concept: nefs. Nefs has got a side related with the self. By giving the reasons, processes and targets of purification, I am trying to explain self transformation with prufication. Because Purification is not only a mystic process but also a psychological process. Here I am trying to evaluate the process of purification by explaining the psychological dimension of repentation, contemplation, ascetism and renunciation, invocation, retreat, selfcriticism, selfobservation.
