Summary/Abstract: Cuban Missile Crisis or the Jupiter Missile Crisis with the perception of Turkey has emerged as the result of the United States (US) placing fuzes to Turkey and the Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) deploying nuclear fuzes to Cuba. This crisis faced the world with a threat of nuclear war, while both blocks faced serious threats for the first time in the Cold War Era. Although the actors of the crisis were the US and the USSR, Turkey would also be affected from this crisis. The fact that the US agreed to lift the Jupiter factions in Turkey in October 1962 in response to the Soviets' removal of the Cuban jurisdictions would make Turkey a part of this crisis. The Jupiter Missile Crisis, which has an important role in the history of Turkish-American relations, is a subject that needs to be approached in different dimensions. The studies conducted up to now, it is seen that the question of how the statesman handle the crisis, how the solution is produced and the two countries are considered in terms of their role in the history of diplomacy. It is also very important how the crisis is perceived by both sides of the public opinion. Because the crises sometimes can be perceived very differently in the public opinion. In this paper, we will focus on how the Jupiter Missile Crisis affects the relations between two countries. It will also be questioned whether the role of the press and its position in the crisis is an effect on Turkish-American relations. For this purpose, newspapers and magazines published in both countries and archival resources will also be used.
