Summary/Abstract: Artsits who are also university based teacher, from the beginning of the 21st century, they have begun to develop a process centered research methodology for creating visual images. They have begun to carry out sociological, artistic, ethnographic investigations with this methodology, which they call as a group of researchers, artists, art educators a/r/tography originating from British Columbia University in Canada, mainly Rita L. Irwin, Anita Sinner, Stephany Springgay and Barbara Bickel. They visualized these investigations, their investigations, and made them concrete. This study aims to understand a/r/tography is a how kind of methodology, how it is shaped, and on which research processes an a/r/tographical research is based on. To find answers to these questions five a/r/tographic articles that describing, explaining the project in Richmond, Vencouver, Canada, were examined: 1) The Rhizomatic Relations of A/r/tography, 2) Richgate: Transforming Public Spaces through Community-engaged Art, 3) The City of Richgate: A/r/tographic Cartography as Public Pedagogy, 4) A/r/tographic Collaboration as Radical Relatedness and 5) Research and Creation: Socially-engaged Art in The City of Richgate Project. These articles were chosen because they were used as the primary source of all the A/r/tographic studies. When the mentioned articles are examined; It has been understood that this new methodology has been shaped as an art based hybrid research methodology because it is planned to be based on artistic performance and writing as well as using existing scientific methodologies. However, it is understood that the ultimate goal of a/r/tographic investigations is to form artworks and visual images related to research problem, not to find answers and solutions for research problem and questions.
