Summary/Abstract: Archaeological excavations of the Lazarev city site, carried out in many ways, starting from the seventeenth decade of the 20th century, testify to the almost continuous life in this place for many more millennia, from prehistory to the present day. The prehistoric layers speak of the continuity of settling from the time of Neolithic, Eneolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age and Laten. Findings of Roman coins and bronze figurines represent the testimony of the ancient past of Krusevac. Something more convincing remains come from the early Byzantine period. There are also established indications that in this place there was a medieval settlement, possible and established, which preceded the great construction project carried out during the reign of Prince Lazar.
