Summary/Abstract: The Russo-Turkish war of liberation (1877-1878) was observed with great interest from representatives of different European countries, including Italy, which opened its first consulate in Bulgarian lands under Ottoman rule in Ruse in 1867. The consuls of the young kingdom in the Danube town beginning to send highly esteemed information about the situation of our people. They did not miss to mention the great events connected with Bulgarian revival history. The reports of Italian consul Enrico De Gubernatis contained a lot of information about military operations and position of Russian ant Turkish troops.
