Summary/Abstract: Movements among the Italian irredentism in Austria-Hungary acted parallel with similar movements in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. This movement has its roots in Italian Risorgimento and processes characteristic to large number of European countries from the Napoleon wars to World War I. Considering the movements of Italian irredentism partially helps in understanding of the processes which led to activities of 'Young Bosnia'. Also, understanding the wider European context in which Italian, Serbian and other organizations sought liberation and creation of national states based on people as the carrier of statehood further explains the circumstances in which World War I started.
