Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the 'history issue' in the relations between the People's Republic of China and Japan, and aims to provide objective view of individual open issues. Different view of both common history and history of Asia disturbs the relations between the two countries and is important for understanding the dispute. However, it does not represent the sole cause of disturbed relations. The role of history in political discourse has been used by both countries for strengthening issues of nationalism and relativization or concealment of certain internal issues. The paper presents open issues in the relations of the two countries thus presenting territorial dispute about Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands, 'history issue', history textbooks issue, Yasukuni shrine visits issue, 'women', Manchurian Orphans.
