The Wrocław Meetings of Librarians as a form of community communication

Summary/Abstract: Conferences of librarians held in Poland constitute a platform for the exchange of experiences associated with the realization of the fundamental task of library-based institutions and they also furnish opportunities for the exchange of observations about the influence of the changing legal and technological reality upon libraries. The theme of the conference, which each time takes into account a wide range of library-based activities, frequently reflects the current legislative changes or the new technical solutions which are implemented. More frequently, innovative solutions which may be implemented, the suggestions of changes and improvement of library-based procedures constitute the subject of pre-conferences. The text recapitulates the series of conferences known as the Wrocław Meetings of Librarians, organised at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology since 2007, initially by the Main Library and the Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, and then by the Centre of Scientific and Technical Knowledge and Information, of which the Libraries of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology constitute anintegral part.
