Summary/Abstract: The article depicts the stages of organization and endowment of signal troops in the Romanian army, the founding of the first specialized task unit, the preparation for and participation in the Independence War (1877-1878) with its subsequent evolutions up to World War 1. The studies and analyses of the most significant stages of development of Romanian Armed Forces signal troops, regarding the organization, endowment and principles of assuring the necessary connections for the various military operations conducted before, during and after World War 1, enabled the possibility to draw conclusions and develop significant lessons learned for the art of war.
