About Teaching an Informal Style in a Class of Polish as a Foreign Language at a Basic Level

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to discuss the problem of teaching an informal style in a class of Polish as a foreign language at a basic level. The starting point was constituted by a comment about the status of Polish colloquial language in glottodidactics. Three aspects of the topic determined the scope of this article. The first one was to investigate the knowledge of informal style among foreigners and analyze the reasons why they want to know it. The second one was to present an idea for a class focused on teaching some elements of informal style. The third point was to draw some conclusions extracted from such a class and make some general remarks on the linguistic and cultural competence of foreigners who were already familiar with this style. The article is based on the teaching experiences of the author. W artykule przedstawiono problem nauczania stylu potocznego na lekcjach języka polskiego jako obcego na poziomie podstawowym. Punktem wyjścia tych rozważań było zwrócenie uwagi na status polszczyzny potocznej w glottodydaktyce. Kształt pracy wyznaczyły trzy zasadnicze punkty. Pierwszym było zbadanie znajomości stylu potocznego wśród obcokrajowców uczących się języka polskiego oraz dociekanie powodów, dla których chcieli ten styl poznać. Drugim – przedstawienie pomysłu na lekcję poświęconą nauczaniu elementów stylu potocznego. Trzeci punkt stanowiło sformułowanie wniosków płynących z takiej lekcji, a także opisanie spostrzeżeń ogólnych odnoszących się do kompetencji językowej i kulturowej obcokrajowców po przyswojeniu zagadnień stylu potocznego. Artykuł oparto na własnych doświadczeniach lektorskich autorki.
