Summary/Abstract: There is wide consensus among professional conference interpreters on the importance of terminology preparation, especially in the face of technical or specialized jobs. In such cases, interpreters are at a disadvantage when compared to participants, since they lack knowledge on the specific vocabulary to be used and the concepts behind it. Therefore, it is in their best interest to try and fill in the gaps by engaging in thorough terminology preparation. This article describes a project carried out at the University of Alicante (Spain) with students from the Undergraduate Degree in Translation and Interpreting (English major) focusing on terminology preparation and exploration of the specialized language of occupational therapy. The aim of the project was to prepare students to perform as volunteer interpreters in a specific communicative situation: the 6th and 7th International Congress of Occupational Therapy Students (CIETO).
