Social health of youth: Statement of the problem and strategy of the research project

Summary/Abstract: Introduction. The article is devoted to the problem of developing research methodology of youth’s social health. The purpose of the article is to solve the methodological task of revealing the logic of the problem statement of young people’s social health, to identify the content of the research problem and the strategy of its social research. Materials and Methods. The research is conducted on the basis of a complex of systemic and structural-functional approaches, a nonclassical sociological concept of the vital forces of man and society, sociological theories of the social subject, the functioning of historical memory, and life self-determination of young people. The logic of the research problem state-ment of youth’s social health is revealed on the basis of the method of algorithmizing the social problem. Results. The results obtained from the research include consistent implementation of the algorithm for determining the research problem of applied social research in relation to the problem of social health of young people. In the article the social health of youth is analyzed through the prism of identifying the subject and the main issues of sociology; сharacteristics of the contradictions between man and society; revealing the levels of the social subject and socio-logical knowledge; characteristics of types and forms of social relations; defining the boundaries of the development of social relations. As a result of the analysis, the research problem and the strategy for sociological research of the social health of youth are formulated. Conclusion. It is concluded that the research problem is the key contradiction between the need to take into account the state of social health of modern youth in planning and implementing transformational processes in all spheres of public life in the regions of Russia and the lack of the latest systematic scientific knowledge on the social health of the younger generation. It is emphasized that the study of the social health of young people has a complex character and as-sumes a social dimension of the physical, psychological, social and spiritual resources of the modern young generation. The author notes that the state of social health of young people at an empirical level is revealed by describing the content of the historical memory of the younger generation, characterizing its value orientations and analyzing everyday practices of the life activity of young people.
