Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the past and current security conditions in the Black Sea Extended Area (Region) as well as the European security and environments evolution trends. The article includes aspects related to the role of EU in this Area (Region) security environment as well as ananalysis of the main crises and challenges the Area (Region) faces both internally and externally. Thus,the image delineated is that of an Area characterized by some vulnerabilities, but with potential to adapt to the new security environment of Black Sea Area. In this context, we analyze the blending of many cultures and religions, the economic importance of this Area (Region), the impact of Russian occupation of Crimea, the necessity of strengthening the Eastern Border of EU, the illegal immigration, and the perpetuation of the frozen conflicts in the Area (Region).
