Summary/Abstract: The article provides a comment on the current debate over arts and science and on academic politics. The perspective of the so-called “technouniversity” leads to the progressive marginalisation of the humanities whose critical evaluation is based on the premises that the research in the humanities is solely concentrated on the text – understood in most traditional manner as objective and autonomous (towards social and practical realities). The author offers a tentative concept of operational theory of the text in the humanities, which would provide a remedy for the crisis of the disciplinary identity – leading to the rethinking and remaking of the humanities’ identity in the face of the critical confrontation with its own tradition as much as with the criteria, standards, tasks and goals of contemporary arts and science.
