DETERMINATION AND THE CHALLENGE OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNITY IN CONTEMPORARY CULTURAL RELATIONS

Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to present and analyze the theory that intercultural communication today stems from two assumptions. The first is that man lives in an age when changes in travel, economy, political system, technology and world population made it necessary for the interaction among different cultures. Another is that people are sensitive to the fact that culture affects communication in a subtle and deliberate manner. Using deductive method, papers will clarify how human perception of its own culture helps in determining the world around him and how he acts in the society according to his cultural knowledge. Communication between cultures, but also within their own cultural community aims to encourage the efficient operation in solving various problems, overcoming obstacles in the understanding and interpretation of the community and individuals, as well as creating an effective plan for future action. This paper will explain the basic meaning of the concept of culture and communication, ways of interacting religions and cultures, and what are the obstacles in the process of intercultural communication. The paper also analyzes the challenges faced by this communication in the modern age, present misunderstanding between cultures and infers what to expect of intercultural communication in the future.
