Summary/Abstract: The following article tries to depict the social tensions and conflicts as expressed in the area of costumes in Kronstadt in the 18th century. The turn from the 17th to the 18th century is an important time, because at the end of the 17th century, the social contradictions in the so-called shoemaker uprising of 1688 clash openly. Due to the devastating fire in Kronstadt in 1689, which not only caused a tremendous damage to property, but also had claimed numerous human sacrifices, the population had additionally been hit hardest, which of course increased the bitterness even more.
