Summary/Abstract: The focus of this paper is the Spanish spoken in South America and a Colombian soap opera has been taken as a case of study. The main objective of this research is to describe the lexicon in order to see if there is a linguistic simplification due to great international promotion of this kind of programmes currently and an influence of English language. The results obtained show the number of anglicisms is very limited and many of them adapt of Spanish grammatical rules. Finally, this type of studies intends to know a little more the Spanish spoken nowadays across the world.
