Summary/Abstract: This paper is aimed at illustrating the numerous facets of the linguistic imaginary, based on conclusions drawn from analysing the interview as a type of discourse in the written and audio-visual press. Our starting point was the rather major, if not surprising, gap between the spoken and the written level of the same language, in our case the Romanian language. This gap becomes highly noticeable when transcribing orally-delivered speeches in order to publish them, as well as when reading the interviews prepared for the written press (such as daily and weekly newspapers, cultural magazines.)
