Summary/Abstract: Donbass consists of several geographical areas, among which the Ridge and the valley of the Seversky Donets river are the main ones. The economy of the Eneolithic tribes which lived in the basin of the Middle reaches of the Seversky Donets was based on complex cattle breeding and agricultural sector. Stationary settlements were generally situated in the fertile valley of the Donets. Flint processing production played an important role in the economy. The main resources of raw flint are connected with geological sources of two right-bank inflows of the Seversky Donets, i. e. the rivers of the Kazennyi Torets and Bakhmut. Two versions of raw strategies were practiced in flint economy. The first one was connected with use of simple technologies of flint splitting, the second one was based on complex specialized know-how technologies. Raw materials from sources closed to settlements and remote from them were used. A separation of special clan of wandering flint craftsmen is probable.
