Summary/Abstract: Antinomical character of Kelsen’s Pure theory of law is best described with a syntagm – consistent idealistic eclectism. This qualification encompasses a rich philosophical and scientific background of Kelsen’s normativism, but also the controversy of Kelsen’s work which deserves to be regarded as paradoxical. This paper researches deeper into these controversies, i.e. Kelsen’s wondering and intellectual split between science and philosophy, through a more complex insight into the socio-historical context and the ideological climate that influenced his creative work.
