Summary/Abstract: This article presents the issue concerning the development of communications skills in persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The author describes the process of speech development of child with autism disorder. It was pointed out that the development of communication skills may have different course. Moreover, the article discusses the problem of verbal and non-verbal communication disorder of child with ASD. Furthermore, the author presents varied proposals of programs, which allow the communication development and underlines the necessity to select personalized methods of speech therapy, adapted for child’s abilities. The article presents also the factors, which have an impact on the results of speech therapy. The particular attention was paid at the Cracovian method. The author underlines the important role of a family in the process of therapy of child with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
