Summary/Abstract: The Maribor Town plan project began in 1995. The elaborate analytical part was directed into recognising and establishing key problems in the town and guidelines for their solution. Expert guidelines were elaborated and presented as conceptual ideas, easily understood by professionals and lay-people. The concept of the master plan or town plan as such is based on the division and connection of the four parts of the town. In the concluding remarks certain ideas on improving the planning system are presented.
