Summary/Abstract: Zoltán Csuka is well known as translator who enabled a long neglected literary reception of Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian and Slovenian literatures in the Hungarian literary scene. This paper deals with the Hungarian translation of Selimović’s novel Derviš i smrt by comparing two parallel literary corpuses: the original text and translation. The paper particularly emphasizes the problem of how to translate Otoman loanwords and points to the lack of criticism of the translation as well as the question of translatability
