Komunikacja medyczna jako obszar badań lingwistycznych
Medical Communication as an Area of Linguistic Research

Summary/Abstract: Medical communication, especially understood as a patient–doctor relation, is nowadays studied within many scientific disciplines, both medical sciences and the humanities. The aim of the paper is to review and systematize the previous linguistics research referring to various aspects of the language functioning in medical communication. The article also outlines research perspectives for contemporary linguistics. Finally, the author presents the activity of two bodies: Polskie Towarzystwo Komunikacji Medycznej {(Polish Association of Medical Communication)} and Zespół Języka Medycznego Rady Języka Polskiego PAN {(Section of Medical Language of the Polish Language Council, Polish Academy of Sciences)}, as well as prospects of practical application of linguistic analysis in the area of medical communication.
