Summary/Abstract: After 1830, the revival of the national army created the framework for publishing some military books collections in Romanian and for the foundation of the first military library in Iași, in 1845. This approach continued by the settlement of a military structure in Bucharest, as well (1852) and the opening of the Ministry of War Library, in 1860. After many changes during the 20th century, it represents today the prestigious National Military Library. The emergence, in time, of the regiment libraries, the development of regulations and instructions for them, different types of catalogues and legal deposits for the publications with military content (1896), and also the specific activities to establish, develop, preserve and valorize the patrimony, emphasize the military libraries dynamic evolution. In present, they are the library system in the Romanian Army and the constitutive element of the national library system and the information and education military system.
