Particularities of the activity of the libraries in the Romanian Army

Summary/Abstract: Military libraries are included in the category of the special libraries in the national library system and they have a strategic cultural role in the military information and education system. The libraries in the army work based on specific instructions, they observe the provisions of the Library Law and the other standards, as well as the military specific regulations about the protection of the classified information.The characteristics of the military libraries activities are mainly connected with the organization and the framework of their activity, access to collections, processing and management in the military libraries; – a category of documents with specific individual record conditions and restricted procedures for access.The ensemble of the material and intellectual operations applied to the military libraries patrimony facilitate users’ access to the collections, for information, research, education and leisure.
