Summary/Abstract: The relative frequent changes in legislation and the lack of strict rules in the library activity produce both vivid professional debates and the possibility to treat subjectively some aspects.This way, from the our institution expertise, we put into debate a methodology regarding the modalities to recover the documents lost, damaged or injured by users or missing at the inventory. We appreciate that the correct knowledge of terms (inventory value rendered actual, inflation coefficient, equivalent sum, etc.), establishes objective, progressive and discouraging criteria and brings support for calculation habits, in these occasional situations.
