LEX AGRARIA OF 111 B. C.

Summary/Abstract: Agrarian law of 111 B. C. is one of the earliest Roman legal documents that are available nowadays in their original form. Whereas the Law was the subject of numerous studies, many of its aspects remained obscure, and its place in the development of the agrarian relations in the Roman Republic is still arguable. In this article, the author explicates the current state of research, clarifies major divisive points of its meaning and puts forward some observations on the structure of the document that may possibly improve its interpretation.
