Summary/Abstract: Even today there is no agreement as to the concept and definition of business ethics in science. Difficulties concerning its determination and defining have prompted numerous writers to start considering business ethics primarily as a set of moral rules that govern the conduct of people in business up to taking the position that business ethics is the study of business morals. The major flaw in the latter meaning of business ethics, as a study of business morals, is that it allows business ethics to be reduced to scientific study of morals rather than par excellence philosophical discipline, a kind of special, applied ethics that inquires into business morals as a set of one and the same rules governing the conduct of people in various areas of human activity, ranging from commerce (commercial ethics) to legal science (ethics of business and law). The wrong approach and understanding are principally the result of the myriad of pejorative meanings of business ethics created in the business world and in the public, especially when its name and concept are used uncritically and disparagingly.
