Demarcatin of Responsibilities in the Area of Protection of the Rights of Citizens

Summary/Abstract: Protection of civil rights is imperative and a long-term task in a modern society. State authorities, quasigovernmental authorities and non-governmental organizations, which are dealing with these issues, participate in achieving this goal. In this paper the authors deal with the state and the organizational structure of authorities for protection of civil rights in Serbia, in relation to different criteria. According to the perceived, authors present shortcomings, solutions which are in conflict with valid law regulations and “narrow throat” in the area of civil rights. The current state in the most important international tribunals, in which our citizens can obtain protection of their violated rights is being analyzed, as well as the relation between their decisions and responsibilities and authority of our courts in the enforcement of judgments of foreign courts. Insets are presented and solutions to perceived shortcomings in the protection of citizens` rights within the legal system of Serbia are offered, with a view to their better, fairer, faster and clearer protection.
