Summary/Abstract: The right to private life, the secrecy of correspondence and freedom of speech, rights constantly violated in the communist period in Romania are now threatened internationally because of Big Brother regulations. Addressing the challenges of these issues calls for a fair balance between the need for national security, the maintenance of public order and respect for fundamental rights.
