Summary/Abstract: The study emphasizes the main features of the Romanian language concerning the process of derivation, prefixation in particular. This paper presents some remarks on derivational words used in the written press. They are suggested by the reading of several recent works in this field, as well as by the analysis of some concrete tendencies regarding the use of prefixation. Several ideas are underlined: the derivation by affixation is still prolific in Romanian newspapers, the dynamics of journalistic derivation, the assimilation of new words and their meanings
