INSTITUTIONAL ASPECTS OF FOREIGN AID

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to explore the relations between foreign aid and quality of institutions of the recipient country as well as the causality. It was demonstrated that institutions do not affect the scale of the foreign aid. Examination of the three potential advantages of the foreign aid regarding institutional improvement of the recipient country – (1) provision of the resources for the institutional building; (2) know-how transfer; (3) creation of incentives for the institutional reform – demonstrated that there are numerous factors that scale down these advantages.
