Activity in environmental goods and services sector in Poland and selected European Union countries

Summary/Abstract: This article presents the results of the comparative analysis in the field of environmental goods and services sector accounts drawn up for Poland and selected countries of the EU. These accounts are part of the European environmental economic accounts and applied to production activities in the national economy that generate products related to the protection of the environment. The article discusses the rules for creating such accounts, as well as the obligations in this regard and presents the results of the accounts composed for different countries in terms of production, value added of production and the export of goods and environmental services. Moreover, the indicators determining the volume of production in relation to the GDP and the size of employment in relation to total employment are taken into account. It was the structure of the volume of production in the sector of goods and services by type of production activities − market and non-market compared in the paper.
