Determinants of the society for the use of renewable energy sources in the light of empirical research

Summary/Abstract: Sustainable development is an idea which purpose is to integrate social, economic and environmental actions. The community of Lublin Voivodeship as well as the whole country is able to implement this policy by the application of innovative solutions in the households and business entities. These solutions are aimed at reducing energy consumption and the amount of emitted pollutants. Such objectives could be achieved by means of using the renewable energy sources. As it was confirmed by the results of recent research, solar heating systems as well as photovoltaic systems are the most popular alternatives in this field. Renewable energy sources reveal high potential as the way to improve the quality of the environment and increase the efficiency of natural resources management processes, and hence contribute to economic development. The aim of this article is to present the opinion of society on the use of renewable energy sources in households in the context of implementation of sustainable development objectives. The research was conducted with the help of a research questionnaire addressed to the inhabitants of Lublin Voivodeship.
