Summary/Abstract: Professor Perović was entrusted with the task of giving his expert opinion on the Draft Law on Obligations of the Republic of Srpska/Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Draft was published as a preliminary document in preparation for the new Law on Obligations. A working group from the justice ministries of the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina prepared it in cooperation with the German GTZ organization, based on the text written by Dr. Helmut Riessman from the Faculty of Law in Saarbrücken. The expert opinion consists of introductory remarks, in which the Draft has been compared with the 1978 Code of Obligations, which, with minor amendments, is still in effect in the former Yugoslav republics, with the famous 1969 Outline for the Code of Obligations and Contracts by our late Professor Mihailo Konstantinovi}, with the Principles of European Contract Law (The Professor Ole Lando Commission, 1998), the United Nations Conventions that refer to obligations, and with the achievements of legal theory in the domain of obligations. It also pays close attention to the needs of the everyday life and the tradition, language and usages of the people for whom the Law is to be made.
