Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the cinematic version of the epic narrative of the Icelandic sagas, which is presented in the genre of so-called "Cod westerns". Movies directed by Hrafn Gunnlaugsson and other Scandinavian filmmakers have been put into the context of the Western world’s cultural development.
