WHAT CAN BE FOUND IN RASFF? OVERVIEW OF NOTIFICATIONS FROM 2016

Summary/Abstract: Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) created in 2002 by the European Parliament and the Council provides information about the hazards in food and feed in the European Union and other member states. The information brought to the system is promptly forwarded to all members of the network. The RASFF is a tool for the implementation of immediate measures to ensure food safety and health of consumers. In the last 6 months (from January 1 to June 30, 2016) 1445 notifications were recorded, 391 of them were alerts, 607 were notifications about rejection at the border, 266 were named as information for attention and 181 information to follow. 298 notification alerts were given the status of a serious threat. Most alerts came from Italy, the Netherlands, France, Germany. The aim of the study was the analysis of notification alerts from 1 January to 30 June 2016. in terms of the origin and nature of risk
