Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problems of Hajka reservoir, located in the eastern part of West Pomeranian voivodeship (commune Świeszyno), in the area of Natura 2000 “Dolina Radwi, Chocieli i Chotli”. Hajka was created in the early twentieth century by damming the dam before Rosnowo reservoir, creating a cascade of energy function in the middle course of the Radew river. The lake is also a recreation and tourist place, a point of drawing water, a natural mainstay, as well as it acts as a flood protection. Given so many features, the authors consider how to reconcile natural, social, economic and legal interests, based on the documentation acquired from the Energa company, and the applicable legislation. In addition, the analysis based on data provided by Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Szczecin, includes changes in indicators related to the quality of surface water inflowing and outflowing from the reservoir and in the reservoir. The article contains an analysis of legal provisions related to the rational management of the reservoir, taking into account its location within the Natura 2000 network. The work ends with summary, which shows a proposal of activities that can reduce or completely eliminate the problems of the Hajka water reservoir.
