Summary/Abstract: April 1st 2016 marks the 150th anniversary since the Decree of the Regency Council created the Romanian Literary Society, which became, in 1867, the Romanian Academic Society, eventually transformed, by 1879, in a “national institute” under the name of “The Romanian Academy”. The creation of the national academic institution is one of the major components of the affirmation of the unitary state and Romanian modernity, becoming the principal factor of manifestation for the right to cultural unity of all Romanians. Along with the legal basis of creation and organization, the founding of the Romanian Academy has been also determined by the need to impose the Romanian language as an official language and the creation and affirmation of the Romanian legal vocabulary, as jurists have been amongst its initiators and promoters. Including Law amongst the sciences whose culture became an academic concern and the jurists, among the members of the high academic forum, along with the creation, in 1954, of the Legal Research Institute within the Romanian Academy, stand as its main juridical components.
