ART IN SOCIOLOGICAL THEORIES OF THE XIX - beginning of the XX century

Summary/Abstract: The article considers the problem of determining the role of art in the social theories of the twentieth century, major theoretical approaches and directions of the research of the Western and Soviet sociology of art. On the basis of comparative analysis is done the attempt to evaluate their value.
