Summary/Abstract: Performance measurement is an important instrument for management. It allows to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness that are important for public sector. Measures are key and the most problematic element of performance measurement. Errors in their construction may in fact lead to a wrong decision. The aim of the article is to present the theoretical importance of performance measurement and its practical characteristics in the selected city office. It is also an attempt to assess the functioning of the system.
