Summary/Abstract: The paper is an attempt at connecting the so called - by the scholars in the field - "mother" and, respectively, the "father" of postmodern fiction - and acknowledged as such by many outstanding followers -, through significant stages in their lives and writing careers. Issues like exile, voluntary or fortuitous, nationalism (be it American or Argentinian) vs. internationalism, experiment and poetics will be approached via biography and the artistic creed of the two legendary (or slightly infamous?) writers.
