Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the question of liturgical preaching: its place, purpose and goal. A liturgical homily as the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Reading the Gospel and preaching after the reading is a liturgical act in the Orthodox Church, an inseparable part of the Holy Secret. The author also presents general rhetorical rules of importance for the sermon. The paper deals with the problems of moving a sermon to other parts of the Liturgy and its separation from the reading of the Gospel. Attention was also paid to the very preparation of sermons as well as the practical issues related to the preaching of a sermon. The paper aims to affirm preaching as the end of the didactic part of the liturgy, and to emphasize its importance to both the people and the clergy.
