Summary/Abstract: The article aims to present the meaning, functions and benefits that emerge in one’s work on music pieces written by Witold Lutosłwaski on different stages of music education. Moreover, the article seeks to find links and points of intersection between issues concerning education on amateurish as well as professional levels, and artistic interpretation of music composed by Lutosławski. The author of the article also makes references to activities whose purpose is to popularize Lutosławski’s music in light of modern culture and social reception of contemporary music. Apart from that, the author summarizes her own experience in this field, and outlines most important – in the composer’s opinion – issues of composer’s style, dilemmas that the style entails, as well as effective methods of dealing with these dilemmas, already tested in the process of music education, popularization activities, and finally artistic performance. Furthermore, the reader will find here issues on the role and choice of adequate repertoire, and – with regards to reflections of the composer – the author presents the readers with directives while constructing one’s repertoire, which is dependable on the recipient and purpose of artistic presentations.
