TECHNICAL CONDITION OF MARIA KONOPNICKA’S COUNTRYSIDE MANOR IN GUSIN IN CONTEXT OF ITS POTENTIAL PRESERVATION

Summary/Abstract: A great potential in cultural tourism is connected to the places with a significant historicalvalue, for example those connected to the biography of famous people. One of Poland’s greatestpoets of XIX/XXth century – Maria Konopnicka – spent several years in the village of Gusin, nearbyUniejów in Łódzkie Voievodship. The article presents the results of the deterioration evaluationof her landmarked countryside manor. Investigation of its technical state revealed that building isin really poor condition. The process of deterioration and occurrence of damages to the structurewas partly a result of using local limestone as its main construction materials. That fact, studypredicts, is of a key importance in the prospective restoration effort, which would be necessary forits further utilization.
