Are You Watching Closely? Self-Reflexivity In Christopher Nolan’s “The Prestige”

Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of self-reflexivity in “The Prestige” (2006) by Christopher Nolan. Three phases of the perfect magic trick presented in the first and last minutes of the film correspond to the three-stage, box-within-a-box method of narrative employed by the director. The order and nature of the components can be successfully compared to those used in popular cinema, which, along with subtle references to the birth of the cinema, complete the meta-film overview of Nolan’s work.
