Summary/Abstract: In the 10th century, monk Krystian, a representative of Przemyslid dynasty, started out tradition concerning relations between Czech Christianity and state system on the one hand and Great Moravia and Moravian saints – Cyril and Methodius on the other. In this way, he improved the prestige of the dynastic Prague successors of the Moravian state. The tradition survived until the end of Middle Ages, despite the negative attitude of Kosmas, the first Czech chronicler. What is more, after Przemyslid dynasty had expired, the tradition was taken over as its own by Czech nobility, whose representative, Dalimil, modified the old version and took the Czech crown away from Moravia, changing Przemyslid into Borzywoj, the successor of Moravian monarch Swietopelk.
