Summary/Abstract: Trying to explain the meaning of the notion prawdziwość (truthfulness), Aristotle started with some examples of usage. Nowadays we do the same saying for example: The sentence ‘Deszcz pada’ (It is raining) is true only when it is raining. The simplest, trivial meaning of the adjective prawdziwy (true) was widened by Alfred Tarski from speaking about simple sentences into focusing on compound and complex ones. He expressed his idea in his definition of truthfulness based on meta-logic, making use of intellectual tools (and skills) gathered in the course of more than two thousand years of European civilization. This historical thread well illustrates culture evolution of human race.
